The Hit Simulator allows you to observe how mutation rate and the number
of mutations (hits) required for the development of cancer affect the incidence
of cancer in a population.
To use the Hit Simulator:
- Set the number of mutations (hits) required for the development of cancer
at a value between 1 and 7.
- Set the mutation rate per age interval at a value between 0 (no mutations
per 5-year interval) and 1.
- Click "Calculate Next 5 Years" or "Calculate to Age 100"
to discover the expected incidence of cancer in a population for the next
5 years or for 100 years under the conditions you have defined.
- Click "Reset" to start a new run using the same or different
values for mutation rate and number of mutations (hits).
