The samples you measured in the lab were also measured by other researchers. The map and table summarize their results. Each sample measured is either lactase persistent or lactase nonpersistent.

The following table summarizes the number of samples in each geographic region that are lactase persistent or lactase nonpersistent. Some areas that are close to each other have interesting differences. For example, West Africa has a high number of samples that are lactase nonpersistent, but East Africa has a relatively high number of samples that are lactase persistent.
